Boog is clearly not my child. Or my husband’s for that matter. I mean the kid doesn’t like pasta OR mashed potatoes. Clearly there has been some mistake. I have been doing my best to try and transition Boogie to more table food over the past week or so and he just wants nothing to do with anything I try and feed him unless its a cheerio or a cracker.
Earlier in the week I put some pasta in his pureed veggies to add texture and he sucked the veggie off the pasta and spit it out. Lovely. I’m new to this whole parenting thing so obviously I’m new to this whole introducing food thing as well. When we first introduced solids there were very few things he wouldn’t eat.
Now, at almost 10 months he has all these opinions about food and everything else. Sheesh, where does he get off having opinions about things. :) Just when I thought I had this whole food thing figured out. I’ve backed off a little. I still offer him things but I’m not going to stress if he doesn’t want to eat it. I still give him purees and I mix the veggies he doesn’t like (like broccoli and cauliflower) with the ones he does (like corn, peas and squash).
I have to rest assured that he won’t go off to college still eating pureed vegetables. Just like he will eventually sleep through the night and not wear diapers anymore. This too shall pass.

Being a new mom it is sometimes hard to remember the big picture, isn’t it? Thankfully almost everything is just a phase with kids.
Found you via the blast. My entry is here:

Oh, babies will throw us all these curveballs. Food, naps, the works. Maybe your little darling has just decided to be a South Beach Baby and ditch the carbs.

Yes, but thank goodness the veggies get swallowed!
(My eldest doesn’t like pasta either.)

Just be persistent like the energizer bunny :-) And don’t forget to let him see you eating well. When he is older, try bringing him into the kitchen with you – he may surprise you with the results!
On my blog (http://whatscookingblog.wordpress.com/2007/10/08/is-deceptively-delicious-too-deceptive) I have been talking about where to draw the line between honesty and getting our kids to eat well. Take a peek and learn about some other ideas that might work that are less deceptive than what Jessica Seinfeld is promoting in this book…

Like Mama K said, almost everything is just a phase.

Oh yes it will pass, my now two year old was a terrible eater and at 10 months would barely eat more than a spoonfull of puree all day – she was over a year before moved off the stuff (diffrent than my 11 month old who resued puree from the start)
