1998
9 years ago today two friends and coworkers became more than friends. I wish I could say it was some romantic, moment where we looked at each other and just knew but it wasn’t. When I look back on that night it was what it was—a hook up. He was my boss but what did I know, I was 20. It was fun, the beer was abundant. Little did I know where we’d be 9 years later.
Our relationship was odd at best in the beginning. He was sure it wasn’t going anywhere. He was nine years older than me after all. I was persistent and determined. His friends called me the child bride. I remember all of them having to sneak me into bars when we went downtown. We have one friend who is almost 40 and still looks like he’s 12. He would go in first and throw the bouncer off thus making sure he just waved us all in. Believe it or not it usually worked.
Eight months later with my lease up and him needing a roommate, I moved in. We’ve lived together ever since. Five years later we bought a house and got married. Then came Boog almost a year ago. How life has changed from that night 9 years ago.
Although he probably doesn’t think so, I still remember how I felt that night. So giddy with butterflies thinking about him. I remember talking to him on the phone for hours and hours. I also remember all that persistence and determination it took to convince him we were going somewhere over the next few months. Ah, things haven’t changed that much, he still doesn’t listen to me now. :P
Happy sort of anniversary Love. I love you even more with each year through our good and bad times. Thanks for giving in and realizing how awesome I am :) and thanks for our wonderful little man. Who is nothing short of a tiny version of his father.

Happy sort of anniversary to you both!!! You are a great couple, and I’m glad it worked out.
The hubby and I have a similar anniversary. Ah those hookups that you weren’t sure if they were going anywhere. Look where they sometimes go!

I did worse. I dated the boss’ boss. We’re still together three kids and fifteen married years later. I was twenty-three and he was twenty-nine when we meet, then we dated for five years before we got married….so it’s now been twenty years. Yikes!!!
He proposed at the company Christmas party, which was a surprise to everyone as they didn’t know we were together, by that time I had left the company….
I’m bad though…I don’t remember the date we first went out.
Happy ’sort of” Anniversary! Thanks for bringing back the memories.
Oh, and glad the hives are fading too…
