5 reasons I am the oldest 29 year old on the planet

5. I have recently come to the realization that I am fairly crotchety for my 29 years. Maybe it’s that whole, I don’t like to make eye contact thing. Or the muttering about these kids today. Who knows, but here I am in all my crotchety glory.

4. Most nights I go to bed before 9:30 10:00 PM.

3. At any given time I would rather be sleeping than doing most anything else.

2. While going to a movie with a friend last weekend, I thought to myself, “god I wish all these kids would get out of my way. And good lord what is that girl wearing doesn’t she know it’s 25 degrees outside.” Kids being the 18-21 year old set that makes up a good portion of my college town’s population.

1. With a FREE babysitter on Saturday night, I sat in our recliner with my lap top in my lap doing our taxes while my husband watched political news coverage and my mother wondered why she was “babysitting”.

  1. Too funny. Just for the record, sleep is one of the most fantastic things that you can do on this planet! Oh, and just wait until one of those kids calls you ma’am. Smiles!

  2. Thankfully, I just barely missed your “kid” cut-off. :p And for the record, I was thinking the same thing about most of the girls there. Maybe that’s another reason we’re friends? :)

  3. Well, I had a sneaking suspicion that I was old and you’ve just confirmed it. I could have written all of those myself!

  4. but a babysitter while you’re home is GREAT!!!! you can get so much done!!!
And I’m only a year older than you. I may still get carded at rated R movies, but I’m 30 and most of my friends are near 40. So I, too, am crotchety.
But it fits in with my peer group, so it’s okay right?

There is nothing wrong with going to bed before 10. Why just last night, I went to be at 8:30. THAT’S RIGHT! You got a problem with that? I’m old and tired and need my sleep.

As if that doesn’t prove my old-ness, just two nights ago, I told hubby that I think I’m going to take out my belly ring for good. I just don’t see why I’m keeping it. When, if ever, will I have the body to show it off? Is it worth that maybe-some-day to have to spend years keeping the Pumpkin and future kid(s) from pulling on it?

Yep. We are definitely getting old.

  7. You know, it’s not just you. I’m 27 and I feel ancient sometimes. Then other times though, I feel 15…so who knows.
