You want answers?

I’ve got your answers right here. Thanks to those that played the question game, it’s been a lot of fun asking and reading everyone’s answers. Now it’s my turn to answer the probing questions from my wonderful readers.

Burgh Baby’s Mom asks who I would rather do the horizontal tango with:

Brad Pitt or George Clooney – Clooney
Bill Clinton or Rudy Guliani – um, ew but I guess Slick Willy if I had to choose
Zac Efron or Daniel Radcliffe – I’m gonna go with Zac Efron cause I don’t know who he is and I can’t imagine sleeping with Harry Potter (Plus googling Efron has reveled to me that he is pretty cute.)
Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera – Xtina all the way, I got enough problems in my life without throwing in Brit Brit
Kermit the Frog or Animal – Animal totally

I must say that I find some of these choices disturbing but not the ones you might think. :)

Manic Mommy asks what celebrities are on my “freebie list” and why?

Well I don’t think I have an official list per se but I could probably name a few off the top of my head. Let’s see…

Orlando Bloom – Mmmm Legolas AND Will Turner plus an accent, sign me up!
Han Solo or Indiana Jones – that’s right Harrison Ford circa 1977 thru 1984, not now though, he’s getting a little old for my tastes.
Patrick Dempsey – really is any list of this sort complete without McDreamy?
Lloyd Dobler – I’ve got an all around thing for Cusack but this is my all time favorite movie
Ben Browder – Farscape days, not that Stargate crap (not that Stargate is crap, I just don’t watch it.) And it must be the later Farscape days as well, not the beginning when he’s wearing his goofy orange NASA suit all the time. (back me up here Caramama!)

Seems most of my choices are character based. Hmm, I wonder what that says about me.

Phoenix asks what made me start blogging?

Well, I was doing an awful lot of reading of many blogs and I have always sort of been a creative type so I thought maybe I’d give it a shot. I have a background in technical writing which doesn’t really mean anything except I can write a pretty darn good set of directions. Basically I’ve got a butt-load of opinions and sometimes I just need to get them out. I have also really enjoyed the sense of community that I’ve found in this blogging world. I feel like I’ve made some pretty good connections with new people as well as reconnected with some old friends.

Honestly it was actually a pretty nerve wrecking thing to start this blog. There was this sense of dread that maybe I would fall directly on my face and no one would read. Or worse, people would read and tell me I’m an idiot. For the most part I have found that the people that write and read blogs are pretty cool and most have only encouraging things to say.

My husband mocks me endlessly about being a blogger. So, you know, there’s always that. :)

The New Girl asks if I could have any super power what would it be and why?

Caramama asked this a month or so ago on her blog and until then I’d never really thought about it, which seems a little odd actually.

The whole idea of super powers makes me thing of Heros which I love (and miss). I think that Peter is probably the most powerful of the heros because he can absorb others’ powers just by being near them. This of course assumes that there are others around with powers to absorb.

I would definitely go with Hiro I think. Time travel, teleporting and stopping time. I can think of lots of ways to implement those little gems in my everyday life. Can anyone say 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep?

Caramama asks when I’m coming for a visit?

Oh as much as I would love to say “let’s schedule that for very soon.” The thought of driving 10 or so hours with a 13 month old sort of makes me want to break out in hives. We haven’t flown yet with Boog either and this is another one of those things I’m dreading. I suspect that I’m building the flying thing up to be more traumatic that it actually will be but who knows. My mom is really pushing me to take the family to visit our relations in TX very soon so if that pans out and isn’t too traumatic maybe there will be another family vacation planned in the near future.

Madame Queen asks what is my dream job?

Ah, my dream job would in fact be no job at all. A woman of leisure if you will. Don’t get me wrong I don’t merely want to be unemployed but independently wealthy.

To go a somewhat more realistic route, I would love to be a lactation consultant but I lack the medical background to get into that field. I have enjoyed my breastfeeding “career” and had nothing but good experiences with the LCs I’ve encountered so I would love to do that sort of work as well.

(On a side note, my husband tried to convince me that the term “woman of leisure” in fact meant prostitute. After consulting the Urban Dictionary I have been reassured that it does NOT mean prostitute. However, for anyone that may think otherwise, prostitute would most certainly NOT be my dream job.)

Ask Wifey asks where I would like to vacation, snow or sand?

The answer really is neither snow nor sand. I much prefer cities for vacations. Occasionally we will go to the beach but I have body issues so I tend to shy away from anything that requires a bathing suit. I enjoy snow but it tends to put a cramp in the sightseeing that we typically enjoy doing. So far my husband and I have been to Disney, Washington D.C., Seattle, San Francisco, Ireland, Scotland, Chicago and Paris on vacations. The West coast and European destinations were particular favorites.

That was all pre-baby however and I suspect that future vacations will look a little different. My dream vacation would be two or three months in Europe. Mostly in Italy but with enough time and freedom to travel to any place in Europe that might strike our fancy. Alas, I believe our opportunity for that trip has passed. There is always retirement I suppose.

Jessica (aka Rose) asks where I would want to live if I could live anywhere?

She asks specifically where I want to live that is so far away that it would break our mamas’ hearts. I asked her this very question on her question post and I mentioned that my husband and I would want to move somewhere far from our families and that would break our mamas’ hearts so it was not an option.

Well the answer is several places really. We love the West coast but we live in North Georgia so that is so very far away. Specifically we love the Seattle area and the San Francisco Bay area. Unfortunately these places are not only on the other side of the country but they are ridiculously expensive to live in. The other place that we would love to live is Ireland. The mention of this to either mother elicits a reaction as if we had two heads each.

These are all things we toyed with before having Boog and it was bad enough then. Now that there is a grandchild in the mix I fear we’ll never get out of this area with out a substantial amount of guilt. (Notice these are also all places we’ve been on vacation, I tend to come home from vacation with plans to move to where ever we’ve just been. :P)

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to ask questions and also thanks to anyone that is still reading this terribly long post. :)

  1. Very Interesting! I think the most fascinating thing is Kermit or Animal question. :) I think you chose wisely, though. Kermit is way too sweet to even have such thoughts!

  2. oh MAN!! I totally missed the post where you wanted questions! Oh well-maybe next time. I agree with a lot of your answers..except I might choose harry potter instead of that other kid. I have a thing for nerds :).

  3. Ben Browder… drool… I would take him in any of his days, and in any outfit. Although he is definitely hottest in the leather pants and black t-shirt.

The thing about Patrick Dempsey is that I always think of him from Can’t Buy Me Love. He will just never overcome that character in my mind. hehe.

I totally understand not wanting to do that kind of traveling with the kiddo. A friend in Atlanta is getting married sometime this year, so maybe we will be down to visit before you come up.

Um, and tell me how having to sleep with a bunch of dirty men for money would be “leisure”? That sounds like a lot of work!

  4. That was hysterical and informative! Thanks for playing along with my question. :-)

You are not the only one that gets mocked endlessly. However, Mr. Husband will, on occassion, do something utterly frustrating, grin, and ask, “Are you going to blog that?” I think that’s a sign that secretly he enjoys it. He sure does rush to read every post.

My new goal in life? To be a lady of leisure. I’m all over that.

  5. Great questions and answers! Oh, Zac Efron is the latest teen hunk all the kids are swooning over from the High School Musical series. My 6-year-old is into all of the Disney shows. Any teenage girl would approve of your choice - smiles!
