Despite our best efforts to have a fun filled Saturday I was stricken with a fever that persisted most of the day. Originally we had planned to attend the preseason scrimmage game put on each year by my husband’s beloved Bulldogs. It would have technically been Boog’s first game.
The husband could have still taken the boy to the game without me, especially since I really don’t care either way about the football that surrounds us each fall in this town. I mean I want them to win but really only because that means my husband won’t be sent into a deep depression each weekend. However, the entire weekend was plagued with a rain that would not end.
I feel bad complaining about rain given the drought that has gripped my area so tightly for the past I don’t know 5 years or so, but really must we make up for all of it in the span of 48 hours. So instead of the potential football game or a folk festival I wallowed on the couch while the husband attempted to entertain a 15 month old for hours on end. A fun time was not had by all.
Strangely enough the boy took at 3.5 hour nap on Saturday. I think out of sheer boredom. I mean why wake up when all you have to look forward to is the same old parents and the same old toys. Can’t even go outside, sheesh. We did venture out during a brief break in the rain. It was oh so exciting. The husband took the boy to the pet store while I popped into the grocery store for drugs that actually work. (Yay, I’m not breastfeeding anymore I can take drugs that WORK!)
To continue the excitement we ventured to the book store where I picked up a little something for myself. I’m more than half way done so it’s a fun, easy read. On the way into the book store we stopped in front of a shoe store where I spotted the coolest pair of blue and brown pumas. I have vowed to make them mine.
This is when the husband and I decided that surely the customary 4th wedding anniversary gift is both fashion sport footwear and computer peripherals. Thus making it totally appropriate for him to buy me the shoes and for me to buy him a new hard drive for the G4 he’s been rebuilding. Feel the love.

You know you’re meant to be together when you marriage is built on shoes and peripherals. That’s love right there!
I hope you’re feeling better today!

I’m so sorry you are sick! I hope that Boog doesn’t get it!
I definitely think those are the traditional gifts for a 4 year anniversary. Absolutely.
