A plague upon my family

Well at least two of them anyway. The husband has been stricken by the stomach virus. The same one Boog had at the beginning of the week. I have somehow managed to avoid it thus far. (Furiously knocking on any wooden surfaces within 100 yards of my person.)

Last night I tried to sleep on the couch in our den. I couldn’t sleep on the couch in our living room because my husband had been laying on it and thus getting his germs all over it all day. I say tried because that couch is old and squishy and just generally too soft for me to sleep on and not have a colossal backache the next day (god am I really this old now?).

Anyway, so I ended up spending the majority of the night sleeping on a sad little palette of blankets on the floor of my den. That’s right I slept on the floor in my own house in an attempt to avoid a stomach virus. Seems like a small price to pay actually. Considering I had to leave work yesterday to drive my husband to the doctor because he was too weak to drive himself and he needed a shot of Phenergan. This is NOT a bug I want.

Thankfully Boog didn’t have it near as bad as my husband but what gives with the stomach bugs. We went a solid 15 months without a single stomach issue now all the sudden we’ve had two in the past month. Maybe tummies will settle soon and I can manage to avoid this one. Then things can start to get back to some sort of normal (HA!).

  1. I’ll knock on some wood for you, too. That sounds like one illness you do not want.

  2. Sometimes it’s just best to give in to the germs at my house. I’d rather KNOW that I have it, than try to get away from it when I know the germs are gonna get me eventually…. Good luck on staying healthy, though!

  3. Good luck on not getting that bug! It’s definitely worth sleeping on the floor to avoid. I hope hubby feels better soon.

  5. Aw, heck. I hope you don’t get it. We have been kicking around a head cold for almost two months now. I never used to get sick like this before my son was born, and after he turned a year old — bam! — we are sick almost all the time!
